In this episode, Ellen Lupton, Kaleena Sales, and Valentine Vergara talk about how designers can shift their thinking, how the rest of us can elevate and promote more diversity in design, and what a world that has more inclusive design might look like.
Ellen Lupton is a design writer and curator emerita at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, and holds the Steinmetz Design Chair at Maryland Institute College of Art. She wrote Thinking with Type and co-wrote Extra Bold, and won the AIGA Gold Medal for lifetime achievement.

She teaches and writes about design history, Black visual culture and inclusive design practice.
tnstate.edu ↗Valentina Vergara is an art director and designer based in New York and a co-author of Extra Bold, a field guide for graphic designers. Her work addresses gender disparity in design education, and she has worked with Reebok, Converse and the Museum of Arts and Design.
