Brookstone Tries To Get Experiential By Bringing Makers Into Stores

For many retailers, getting experiential means new displays or interesting ways to trial products in store. Brookstone announced a more unusual approach this week, partnering with makers to not only help them showcase their products but also to sell them in store. It's a technique that is used often with food and CPG brands to trial their products in grocery stores or Costco for example. Doing something similar in the consumer electronics space is innovative and offers a wonderfully personal way to get to know the actual creators of products - and probably make a pretty compelling pitch to sell them too.
Writer Halts Book on Poker After Winning $86,000 Playing Poker

Doing the research for a book often takes deep immersion. When journalist Maria Konnikova embarked on writing a book about high-stakes poker, her research involved shadowing legendary poker player Erik Seidel (who has made an estimated $34 million playing) to learn the basics. This story about her success as a player thanks to his coaching, and her decision to put the book on hold to focus on poker is a perfect example of how our lives can take unexpected turns when we take the time to get out of our comfort zones and learn something new ... especially if you can learn it directly from a master.
Corona Wants To Help UK Office Workers Be Proud Of Taking Vacation

In the UK and many other parts of the world, taking vacation is something that workers seem to do reluctantly. A combination of guilt, ambition or just complacency means that many employees finish every year without taking their full vacation days. This image creation tool from Corona is a fun way to help workers have a bit of fun by replacing their out of office message and has the benefit of being a great ad for the brand as well.
Copywriter Scores First Job By Painting Body Gold Like #FearlessGirl

How far would you go to land that job you really really want? Jade Delaney, a young aspiring copywriter in the UK, turned up outside the offices of McCann's Bristol office painted fully in gold and dressed as one of their most iconic recent campaigns: the #fearlessgirl statue. It turns out her stunt (and her portfolio) captured the attention of the agency's leadership and she earned a 1 month trial run. The entire story is an ideal reminder that sometimes the best thing you can do to get noticed is to stand proudly in a place where the people who matter most have no choice but to notice you.
